Master Sam Hing Fai Chan
Master Sam Hing Fai Chan began his martial arts training at the age of eight in his native Hong Kong, China. Today Master Chan is an internationally recognized Master in Wing Chun, Jow Ga and Tai Chi. In addition, Master Chan also holds a 2nd Dan Black Belt in Judo.
Master Chan studied Wing Chun under Grand Masters Ip Ching and Ip Chun, sons of the Great Grand Master Ip Man (instructor of the late Bruce Lee). The bulk of Master Chan's study was with Grand Master Ip Ching. |
Master Chan is a member and certified Wing Chun Instructor of the prestigious Hong Kong Ving Tsun Association, and is also a founding member and former director of the United States Ip Ching VingTsun Athletic Association. Sifu Chan has also acted as the personal interpreter for Ip Ching on many of his U.S. visits. In 1996, Master Chan was recognized by excellence in instruction and awarded the rank of Master Instructor by the United States Ip Ching Athletic Association by Grand Master Ip Ching. Master Chan is also a founding member and current director of the International Wing Chun Martial Art Association, and is much sought after for his Wing Chun knowledge. Master Chan believes in teaching by example that martial arts is a way of life. He will accept any student who demonstrates a willingness to learn and who is on a path in life that has heart. Master Chan's methodology can be expressed as follows: "Kung Fu is more than self-defense or fighting. It is a way of life; it is the Chinese culture, humanity, history and health rooted in Eastern medicine and philosophy."
