Wing Chun Online - Lok Dim Boon Gwan Level
Lok Dim Boon Gwan also known as Six and Half Point Pole. Length of the pole runs between 9 foot to 12 foot long, and tapers down from 2 inches diameter to 1 inch at the other end. The pole can be quite heavy depend on the kind of wood being used. Training with the long pole can enhance strength and skills in balancing and rooting.
Lesson 1 - Pole etiquette. Stances and warm up. Biu Gwan (thrusting forward). Basic Pole techniques.
Lesson 2 - Control - Keep movements with a manageable range. Til Gwan (upward strike).
Lesson 3 - Target practice - Accuracy and judging distance. Dan Gwan (downward strike).
Lesson 4 - Balancing and rooting - Practice pole technique on stool. Soo Gwan (forward and reverse sweep).
Lesson 5 - Two steps drills. Huen Gwan (circular pole).
Lesson 6 - Larn Gwan (high block and low block).
